Introduction to Camiguin Island
2:06 Besides Sherbet of the street in front of the Northern Lights, Ron Northern Lights has, I believe, three locations on the island. I can't think of where the other two are.
2:22 I've been preoccupied here for my time, but I figure why not here a little bit.
Northern Lights Restaurant Experience
2:44 Mama Ho is where you're very deep bunker to White Island. There are quite a few resorts and of course, I believe that's where the ferry drops off.
4:47 So that was just the restaurant. I guess the manager or owner mentioned that they were out of the dish that I had ordered, so I interchanged it for fried chicken. I absolutely love fried chicken, so that's not a problem with me.
5:05 She was incredibly gracious and courteous, and the food is really good here. So I absolutely recommend if you're on Camiguin Island, check out one of their three locations. They're pretty evenly dispersed, so if you do get around the island a bit, you should run into at least one location.
5:21 I'm not sure about the other locations, but this one is open until 8 p.m. and actually, I believe it has the latest opening time in this area of the restaurants, so our latest closings, I should say.
5:37 I want to say they open around, well, their official opening time is like 10 a.m., but when I overheard the owner or manager speaking, they mentioned 9:30 a.m. So to be safe, I would say around 10:00 a.m.
5:50 I don't see that they're serving breakfast, so it's definitely worth keeping in mind for lunch or for dinner.
Local Businesses and Baked Goods
6:15 I was kind of surprised. At first, I thought it would be the first time I'm getting asked to stop filming, but in fact, I wasn't.
6:40 He's trying to move it around. I saw a guy welding it. I've heard that can be really hard on eyes, so I want to shield our eyes from that.
7:12 I haven't been in there, but it's called St. Nicholas Pharmacy. And next door on the left, they have various baked goods. This is the holidays, so you can imagine they're probably selling a lot.
7:21 Depending on the timing, they may not have as much selection as you might anticipate, simply just because they're doing a lot of business and they have obviously very popular products. They're one of the busier bake shops I've seen here in Catarman.
Purchasing Water and Staying Hydrated
7:39 So that's something to keep in mind.
7:53 I've been going into that bake shop actually, not so much for baked goods, but to pick up bottled water. They have, I believe, like a 20 ounce or 17 ounce for 10 pesos, about 20 cents US.
8:02 Or you can get a liter bottle for about 40 cents, 20 pesos. So worth keeping in mind if you need water.
8:20 I think water can be sometimes kind of hard to find in this area, so you want to definitely buy more than what you think you'll need to make sure that you account for the downtime, you know, time where you're thirsty and you need water but you haven't quite found it.
8:38 You want to make sure you're hydrated because this island gets pretty hot, and you're gonna sweat a lot. The sun beats down pretty hard, so if you're not in the shade, you're gonna sweat a lot.
8:50 I grew up in the South, currently live in the South. It's hot there, but it's even hotter here.
Climate and Hydration Advice
9:07 So definitely be cautious and be careful. Stay really hydrated.
