[Music] today's video I'd like to discuss why xats choose Thailand now the number one reason that a lot of xats choose Thailand this is going to be obvious from anybody that's watched my videos or watch some other videos
on this subject the first reason is of course cost of living I rent a nice studio apartment here in changmai for about $250 a month I can have really great meals for between like $150 and $2 I can
easily get around town for about 80 cents per ride on a song towel a red truck and overall cost of living especially for services is very economical here in Thailand that's one of the key factors that a lot
of people are concerned about when they want to move overseas is what's it going to cost to live in that place how much am I going to spend each month what are different kinds of things going to cost
me for my preferred lifestyle Thailand really checks a lot of those boxes when it comes to the economics of living overseas even in Bangkok or puket cost of living is still modest compared to a similar City or lifestyle
in the west it happens more often than you think but I hear people living here in Thailand clearly from Western countries complaining about the cost of living back home it is unfortunate but it is a reality of basically
every Western Country that housing is a sort of Ponzi scheme and used as an investment rather than as providing places for people to live the next is going to be that Thailand has a well-worn tourist Trail if you're
somebody who has never been to Thailand and you want to consider exploring it's very easy to do so there's tons of videos on YouTube about Thailand there's also a lot of infrastructure in Thailand that makes it very easy
to get around the country to have good food to find places to stay I almost look at it as like easy mode it was the first true expat destination that I visited after I spent time in Mexico it's
just so easy I mean it's easy to fly from one part of the country to another it's easy to get a variety of tropical experiences it's a country that is really set up for you to be able to
easily have a good time regardless of how much time you have some people they come for a week they come for two weeks other people come for a month or two and people like myself will come for 6
months to a year if they have time in between jobs and they can swing it financially still others are retirees people who have worked their entire lives and they acquired various Investments or stocks and they're able to live
off of that income aside from the tourism infrastructure it's also a place where you don't have to do a lot of things by yourself if you don't want to in the US it seems like everything we have to
do to save money is done by ourselves but here it's not too expensive to be able to find a nice place to live to find an affordable say housekeeper to have food deliver to your apartment or house anything
that you could want is accessible here in Thailand the next reason that expats choose Thailand is ease of access to Southeast Asia if you're somebody that you want to travel within southeast Asia you don't only want to stay
in Thailand you love Thailand but you don't only want to stay in Thailand you can make trips easily to Vietnam to Indonesia Cambodia to the Philippines if you're from Australia or New Zealand it's also not as bad as
far as travel time compared to coming from say the United States or from Europe within those countries you have places like H Long Bay is a really popular tourist destination in Vietnam of course you have the beaches in
Bali you have the islands in the Philippines all these places are accessible within 1 2 3 4 Hour flights you may have a layover depending on where you're based in Thailand but a lot of people find that to
be really thrilling because they're used to like in my case being from the US it's not so easy to get to another country unless you're talking about Mexico or Canada it can be timec consuming and expensive whereas flights
in region in the offseason are quite low even in High season they're not terrible considering the value that you're getting of going to another country experiencing another culture some cases getting different weather it can actually be chilly here
in changai during the winter some people don't want that right so they're going to go off to a tropical beach destination personally I feel like I could spend a lifetime in Southeast Asia traveling around to different countries in
different areas and still never really run out of things to do so that's number three for us as to why expats choose to live in a place like Thailand number four is the slower paced or more relaxing culture
here in Thailand especially in changai I noticed the local people walk at a much more relaxed pace compared to Western tourists typically when somebody's walking really fast in changmai I can always tell that there's somebody that's not a
local that is in this kind of rat race mode where they're in a rush all the time like we are in the west there's all these what seems like at times there's this manufactured urgency where people are pressured
to give up their free time to always be productive if I'm not at work I need to be studying if I'm not studying I need to be working out if I'm not working out I need to be doing
this and I'm not saying it's not good to try or to do these things but you do notice when you come here to changai people are not in such a rush the service is not rushed people don't seem
frazzled and stressed out it's just a really calm environment compared to what I'm used to in the United States some people may point out that they live in a small town in the United States or small town in
Europe but I found that especially postco the culture and the atmosphere in a lot of these places has really sped up to be not that different from living in a big city like San Francisco or New York City
I think that people are pleasantly surprised after they spend maybe a month or so adjusting at how calm and collected and cool the local people seem compared to their home country in the west where it seems like there's
a lot of division and conflict and you see a lot of homelessness and people arguing in public it's really a different situation entirely the number five reason that expats or foreigners choose Thailand is of course the dating I
personally have had some dating experiences here in Thailand not going to get into that out of respect for privacy of the people that I've dated but coming from the west where there's this ultra competitive nature where it seems
like partners are often trying to compete with each other for earnings or for Career Success you don't really get that as much here it seems like a lot of couples I see here are happy I'm not going to
say all but I think that there's a lot of Western people that have come here that are happy and I'm not just going to say it's just Western men coming to date local women I actually know multiple Western
women that are in relationships with Tha men so this assumption that it's only the passport Bros that are coming to Thailand is not entirely accurate in my opinion I think it's it doesn't really take the totality of the
circumstances into account dating's a lot more affordable here in Thailand for me in the west to go to a movie by myself is $4 ticket where here in changai I think movie tickets are like $4 meal is easily
2030 $40 per person in the US here in Thailand I can easily get a meal for like $152 so if you're wanting to take some out for a date then it's just so much easier here not to mention
that the city center here just feels safer it's easier to feel comfortable walking around late at night it's just a much better environment for focusing on relationships than the west where it feels like a lot of us are
just really focused on our jobs and work and struggle with work life balance a bonus point for you here and that's healthc care I think for some of us as we age perhaps we have different kinds of Health
needs and there's plenty of private hospitals here in Thailand that have English-speaking staff where you can go and get various ailments treated it's also moderate in cost compared to the US even having Insurance here tends to not be
quite as expensive as private health insurance us of course it's also not tied to your job like most health insurance in the US I've had experiences in private Thai hospitals nothing major thankfully but for the minor stuff that
I've needed to get treated my experiences were great the service was efficient the prices were reasonable so I hope you've enjoyed this video it's just been a quick video on what xats enjoy about Thailand why xats choose Thailand
