If you watch the video, you would know where I'm from.
>> Hey YouTube, Alex here, and in today's video, I want to discuss something that's been in the news lately, and it's been pretty wild what's been going on.
I know all of you have heard by now that Pro-life Traveler has been raided in Dumaguete.
And I actually met this guy and I also witnessed the incident that went down between him and Filipina P.
And so I [snorts] thought I'd share my experience.
I know some people are wondering why didn't you make a video about this before?
Well, there are rules about defamation.
So in the Philippines, you can't just go around saying something that you witness because even if it's true, you can be held accountable or held liable for that if it damages the reputation of someone.
And I'm not here to debate whether that's right or wrong.
I just always follow the law.
Always follow the rules.
Number one is when I saw the incident go down between him and Filipina P.
[snorts] And later on is when I actually met the guy.
For those who don't know, I lived in Dumaguete from August of 2024 to April of 2025, about eight or nine months.
And and when I was there, I met a lot of cool vloggers.
You've seen a lot of my collaborations with various vloggers and I had a lot of fun meeting vloggers.
Uh but I also had some strange interactions and encounters and one of them is when actually I encountered Filipina P.
Everybody knows P.
She is one of the largest Philippines YouTubers.
She's a really cool person.
Anyway, so what happened was I was walking there in the park, Queson Park, in the center of Dumaguete near the boulevard.
You could say one of the centers, maybe not the exact geographic center, but one of the common sort of crossroads in the city where if you're going from another part of the city to the boulevard, it's likely you're going to pass by Quaison Park.
and ICP.
I'm like, "Wow." I did a double take because you don't expect to see somebody on YouTube in real life.
It's just kind of a strange effect cuz you're used to seeing them through the video platform through a camera.
And I saw her and I also saw that she was filming.
And by this point, I had been monetized on YouTube and I'd spent time with enough YouTubers that I recognize it's work.
I don't care if you're the biggest YouTuber or the smallest YouTuber.
It's work.
It takes work to make good content, to learn how to use the camera, to learn how to use audio equipment, to edit.
So, I thought, well, it looks like she's working.
I do want to let her know, hey, I think your content is good, but I'm not going to just rush her.
I'll stay back and I'll keep an eye on her.
And when it looks like they're wrapping up, I'll just, you know, go up, say my peace, and quickly go on with my day.
Well, all of a sudden, I see a guy.
I don't recognize him because frankly there's a lot of European American guys in Numagedi and I see a guy approach her and shove a camera in her face and start trying to get her to engage.
I didn't know what that was about, but by this time I'd also had some awkward interactions with some bloggers and I wasn't really close enough to distinguish who it was.
is it wasn't somebody I was friends with or had hung out a lot with.
So I thought, ah, maybe it's a new vlogger.
It's somebody that is starruck at the time.
I was probably a little bit more generous trying to give the benefit of the doubt, but I still thought it was inappropriate.
It was obvious.
I don't care who it is.
You know, just rush somebody with a camera and interrupt what they're doing.
They're working.
They're a business person.
they've got to make money to pay for whatever they want, engage in their industry or their craft.
And I thought it was really strange.
And she had a crew with her.
P had a crew with her.
One of her crew members, a lady, I don't know if you call it her like production assistant, but somebody helping to produce the videos.
Hey, you do this.
Hey, you do that.
Kind of like a manager.
got in between who I later found out was pro-life traveler and P and said, "Hey, hey, you need to ask permission.
We're working here." Like, you can't just shove a camera in somebody's face because you want to.
And it's a boundaries thing, too.
The Philippines, in spite of what people think, is a very socially conservative country.
There's a strong distinction of what is and is not acceptable behavior in the Philippines.
For example, public displays of affection.
Not really big.
In the Philippines, I would say, especially outside of the major metro areas, if you're not in like parts of Sibu or Manila that are perhaps a bit more Americanized or global kind of style, it's a socially conservative country.
The majority of people are conservative Catholic and there are more rules as far as the interactions between men and women go.
When I witnessed this go down, they shued the guy away.
He got mad, called P a Karen.
Oh, she thinks she's so good.
It's like, no, dude, you you totally violated her boundaries.
So, eventually after things chilled out a bit, I went up and I knew something wrong had happened.
I didn't know exactly the words that were spoken.
I was far enough away.
I couldn't hear what was spoken, but it was obvious that something had gone down.
I said, "Hey, I enjoy your videos.
I hope you guys have a nice day." It wasn't trying to ask for anything.
I as far as I'm concerned, P and really no other YouTuber owes me anything.
And she stopped me and we started talking.
She asked me where I'm from and it was great.
I ended up hanging out with P and her friends for several hours after.
We ended up walking to the boulevard and enjoying some Filipino style snacks and having a great conversation.
If you're a subscriber of her Patreon, you probably seen me on there.
She recorded me.
I didn't want to bug her because just context like she was probably not in the mood to have another camera stuck in her face.
So, she wasn't expecting.
For those who don't know, she plans out her videos a lot.
[snorts] She does many, many takes of her videos.
She puts a lot of thought and effort into her videos.
It was just cool to meet somebody whose craft I respect, who I could tell puts a lot of work in and has a lot of insight.
Um, so yeah, eventually she had other things to do.
She went on.
I went on.
I stayed in touch with one of her friends who we're friends with to this day.
So I thought, ah, that's that's a weird dude that just did that.
But if you spend enough time in Dumagetti, you'll see a lot of weird foreigners with cameras.
It's typically not Filipinos that act that way.
It's typically foreigners who are not the most socially welladjusted people to put it politely.
I figured, ah, you know, another one of these guys probably shows up every day looking to grow their channel, looking to develop their skill set.
Probably won't see him again.
I had no idea who ProLife Traveler was.
I mentioned the incident to a friend and the friend said, "Oh, that's probably Prolife Traveler." But there's so many vloggers, it's hard to keep track of them.
That went in one ear and out the other.
I didn't really think anything of it.
Oh, Proife Traveler.
I mean, if you search travel on YouTube, there's probably tens of thousands of travel channels, so they all kind of blend together.
There's so many of them at this point.
I mostly watch OGs.
Like Gabriel Traveler is a big one that I watch.
He's been doing videos for I think over 15 years.
So, I'm not really adding a ton of new travel vloggers cuz like I said, a lot of them kind of blend together.
Later on, I see what turns out to be pro-life traveler and I said, "Oh, hey, you look familiar.
I think I've seen your videos." At this point, I think I'd watched a video or two of his, but like I said, uh these these all kind of blend together.
Part of it for me is just making conversation.
If I sat around and watched every vlogger out there, I'd never get any content out.
And I said, "Where are you from?" He said, "If you watch the video, you would know where I'm from." What?
I looked at him like, "Well, if you watch the video, you know where I'm from." And I'm just thinking, "Woo!" Like, he had this twisted look in his face and all of a sudden my Spidey sense started tingling.
And [laughter] I know some people will laugh about that, but I had this sense that I've had when I'm in Dumagedi and I meet a creep.
There's not a ton of them.
There's probably a half dozen or so.
I'm not talking about socially inept people.
I'm not talking about guys who are kind of awkward.
If you know me in real life, I can be socially awkward.
I'm talking about where the hair stands up on the back of your neck and you get goosebumps.
You probably could imagine what I'm implying here.
I'm not going to spell it out.
He just had a really predatory vibe about him.
And all of a sudden, I connected the dots.
I'm like, "Oh, this is the guy that makes those weird videos." I'd seen a couple clips, turned it off, and went about my day.
Because there's a lot of strange vloggers out there.
If you look at Vitali who's in jail in the Philippines, these guys are not uncommon.
I mean, to me, I just figure, oh, this is one of those odd vloggers.
And uh I let it go.
I'm not the type, definitely not in a country that's not my own to escalate.
And sometimes you ask questions just to make conversation.
Sometimes I ask questions just cuz I want to see what the person is going to say.
But I had no idea.
I probably wouldn't be able to point out Estonia on a map up until a couple years ago when I visited Finland and Helsinki and found out on that trip that Estonia is a country that neighbors Finland.
But yeah, so anyway, I let it go.
I didn't escalate.
If you spend time in expat hotspots, you're likely to meet some expats that are kind of odd.
Specifically with him, I got the creepy crawly sensation.
I just felt like something is really not right about this guy.
You know, I had I had trolls stalking me.
But if you ever see mug shots of people going to prison and you get that kind of and you get that kind of creepy crawly feeling, you'll know what I'm talking about.
But I just thought something's not right about this guy.
I asked him [snorts] after that, you would know where I'm from if you watch the videos.
Uh, I said, "What's the name of your channel?" Pro-life Traveler.
And I asked people about him, people that I'm acquainted with, and they said, "Well, he's he's creepy." And well, he's weird, but he gets views.
And I'm just thinking, well, there's a lot of bad stuff on the internet that gets views.
I I don't really care about the views.
I can respect the work ethic, but ultimately, I just had a bad feeling.
I knew something was going to happen and I decided I'm staying away from this guy.
And I saw him a few more times around the boulevard filming with his significant other.
And I did not approach them.
I did not try to talk to them.
I just tried to keep my distance.
I was thinking, "This guy is a predator.
This is somebody I need to stay away from." I was not shocked at all when I found out that his place had been raided.
So, you might ask, well, how is this not defamation?
This is public news.
I'm referencing public news articles.
Many videos have been done at this point.
Several clips have been shared all over Facebook.
This is just a drop in the bucket.
I wanted to share my take on it.
I wanted to share what my thoughts about it were.
Let me know down in the comments below.
If you had awkward or difficult interactions, what you think about his channel.
I'm certainly not a fan.
I'm not disappointed to see him shut down and and not producing videos anymore.
[snorts] I saw later some videos where people strung together clips of the ways that he was disrespectful to Filipinos, insulting Filipinos.
Not a fan of that at all.
I also would not be shocked if in the raid they turn up video footage that further incriminates him in illegal activity.
Law enforcement has built up a case.
They built up reasons.
They've got all the evidence.
He posted all that stuff on YouTube.
It's not like it's a mystery.
Uh, I think him taking down a lot of videos doesn't [snorts] help his case because if the videos were fine, why would he not just leave them up?
YouTube videos are evergreen assets for YouTubers who are monetized.
YouTube doesn't charge you anything for having videos up.
It's very unfortunate that it came to this.
feel the same way with the tally that these guys would come in to the Philippines and disrespect the country, disrespect the people.
Let me know what you think down in the comments section.
