hey youtube Alex Conley here and in today's video I want to give you guys a little bit of tour here of my room and Singapore and we're here at the k2 guesthouse and it's in the queenstown area which
is sort of on the west side of singapore come away from the downtown area which I was looking for because I like a quiet place and this place is relatively quiet so right here immediately on your left when
you come in you've got this safe this would be used for storing goods to be honest Singapore is really safe and has really little crime rates but even so for those who need it safe to store important goods
may be your passport valuable electronics you got something right here it's a Safeco brand I believe you'll just key in a code right here so yeah they've got a neat little license plate here I'm not sure I guess
this is just an art yeah this is an artistic one so that's I don't think it's an actual license plate but it's still a nice little touch right above the door here you got a fan and that will
help circulate air in the room kind of help keep it cool Singapore is like right on the equator so it gets pretty hot year-round in Singapore's from my understanding there's like the hot season and then the wet season
so you got a trash can just standard hotel trash can nice little mirror here I'm I'm drying my towel here because they've got a little sign here asking not to dry clothes in towel here I assume it could
cause damage to this cabinet so right here you've got some hangers so my dirty laundry that I'm gonna be doing you got some hangers cleaning up you know nice clothing etc and I am using this to just store
my backpack this is the backpack I've been traveling with for several months now it fits perfectly right here so immediately past that there's a nice lamp for the room and they've got the Wi-Fi code I'm not gonna share
the code but they do have the Wi-Fi code uh whole note you know when people know to go smoke outside smoking is not allowed inside and this hotel some tissues and they got some nice little they got some
nice little goodies here they've got vanity kit I'm not sure what's in the vanity kit I'll probably check that out later a shaving kit a comb that was a toothbrush this is the toothbrush so these are the nice
little things that they've included here at the k2 guesthouse they've also included a little tea and coffee so if you enjoy tea they've got the Lipton right here and they've got the Nescafe original I may not have this
one while I'm here but I may take the packet with me to have like at the airport or something that's a nice touch and yeah like a small small cup right there with a stirring spoon and then right
here they've got a hairdryer so if you need to dry your hair after taking a shower you'll just unbox that plug it in and you're good to go oh cool I don't even notice this oh so you're on
this little place here maybe you need to store some notes or you want to put your laptop away Singapore is a pretty dense country so they have to implement unique storage solutions just so that they make sure that
they make the best use of space here it's from what I've heard it's roughly the size of Manhattan so that's certainly worth keeping in mind before you come here is that Singapore is relatively expensive but not only is
it expensive it's pretty dense and you're gonna have to be cautious about how much you bring if I were coming to Singapore another time you know I would stick to my my backpack I would I would just do
one piece of luggage I wouldn't bring multiple pieces of luggage here because that's just a lot to keep up with okay cool so they got just this Panasonic remote for the aircon up there it's a nice air-conditioning unit
I've stayed comfortable but not too cold I found that at a number of places that I've stayed at on this trip the aircon will run too cold I'll be freezing or it won't be cold enough and I'll be
hot sweaty so things are done really well here in Singapore so this is the bed let's check out these drawers underneath it looks to be like a single maybe a full actually I think I think it's a full
size bed okay so more more pullout drawers for storage purposes you got two down here yeah you got two and this will just stand up in the corner here so yeah it's a little bit messy not because it
came like this because I slept in it last night but yeah there's the nice cool desk chair they got there it's like urgh anomic so it's pretty comfortable it's it's got this mesh so it breathe I like this
desk chair personally but yeah oh one more thing they do have plugs right there and if you're coming here to Singapore you'll need a Travel modifier like this one I'm using I use this and it helps me plug
in my various things and I need to charge the outlets are different than North America here in Singapore and then down here they've got several more outlets and you'll just just you'll just swap it on you know so
when you get ready to use it you just there now it's on and you be able to to run power to whatever devices you need to charge it but yeah so as you can tell this room is not
massive basically hotel rooms in Singapore tend to be small some might ask why don't you out for a hostel I'm just not big on hostile environments I like my privacy my time alone this room actually does have a
restroom / shower across the hall which I guess I could show you guys that and right there's a water dispenser the water here is really nice in Singapore [Applause] so yeah this is the this is the shower right
here you've got a window or you can you can see outside and toilet paper dispenser pretty standard nice shower a good water pressure here the water temperature is great not too hot not too cold they've got the tren
tears heater which you can use to modify the temperature in here they've got a shampoo and a soap dispenser so you're not having to worry about those when you do stay here at the k2 guesthouse one place just
hang up your your towel put up your towel and your your clothing while you take shower but yeah I hope you enjoyed my tour this room is running me roughly 3,500 points per night which equates about $35 a
night now the actual price you may be a bit surprised the actual price is roughly $75 a night I think that's Singaporean dollars so probably closer to like I think around like 55 US per night but I got
a deal on it and right now with the coronavirus situation Singaporean government's doing a really good job of staying on top of it but naturally they have some concern belief that it will impact their tourism sector or sector
here in Singapore certainly on the Singapore subreddit some members have mentioned that some companies have implemented work from home and people are canceling their flights some people are cancelling their flights and so the hotels are suffering from lower
occupancy rates so that could play into why I got a good deal I'm really enjoying Singapore I'm really glad I took the time to visit this is a wonderful country it's the natural beauty is is mind-blowing it's really
one of the more beautiful countries I've been to now I know it's relatively small so they have a small area to to keep up but I think it's great and I don't think it's this expensive as people make
it out to be I found great value in this hotel paying roughly you know 35 per night for three nights that's cheaper than most the vast majority of places I could get a hotel in the United States or
if not anywhere in the United States and I'm a 15-minute walk from metro rail line to any you know to other parts of this city and anyway thank you for joining me here in Singapore I appreciate you checking
out this tour and this has been the k2 guesthouse and I will talk to you all next time
